something old...something new

OK OK.....so some proper tattoo pictures. neither are from the convention, coz my time-space continuum of blogging is warped, so here's the piece i did the day before i left for Singapore....on Captain Justin Sparrow.

He also got the compass piece by me lower on the same arm.....(already posted this....but what the heck....)

(if u wanna trawl thru and find the original post in May....u can click to enlarge this....it's from when my blog wasn't temperamental)

he's basically getting a patchwork sleeve of nautical themed pieces, i've done half, and a girl learning to tattoo is doing the other half. it's always kinda interesting to see what new additions he has and where!

ok so then yesterday i started this super fun piece on the same guy who got the jap toys leg piece (other leg).... he brought in a sketch he found online, and i didn't need to change it too much coz it was already really nice, but i've changed a bit, and totally changed how i'm shading/colouring it coz i'm not feeling the original at all....... so this is the 1st session....3 and a half hours so far.....

once we get this half finished, i'll be doing a super cute geisha and a fan on the other side to make it a full wraparound. i love stuff like this, and it takes me no time to draw and i'm already excited bout doing it!

so maybe 2morrow i will have caught up on the Singapore convention blog enough to post some more tattoos, then i'm afraid u have a zoo blog in the works too. MONKEYS!

Gravity's relentless pull.

so the end of the 2nd day of the convention in Singapore, we found out about an underground punk gig going on in this little venue that nobody had heard of......the BLACKHOLE.

awesome little venue just far enough down an alleyway to be really hard to find, but close enough to a shop to buy beer, and even had a toilet-always a bonus!

so all was fine and dandy......what more could you want?! probably one of the best and cheapest nights i've had in years... it was also really nice to see such an eclectic crowd, all ages, all races.....super awesome to see. don't really get that in hong kong unfortunately...

we rocked up just in time to see Pisschrist (from Australia) play....

circle pit.....

after whom a Malaysian band called Always last played.....really reminded me of Lagwagon which was pretty awesome! we ended up buying a cd of each band (probably good thing we missed a few, coz it wouldn't have been such a cheap night!

his....head.....will.....explode.....one.....day....

tombstone

ok, more museum musings i'm afraid..... maybe i'll have time to post some tattoos too..... we'll see. So after the National museum galleries we mosied on down to the Egyptian exhibition.....

Some really cool pieces on show, but super hard to get pics behind glass behind glass......and lights.......BAH! so here's a few select few for y'all....

These aint old but they r still cool.....

this guy looks a little ashamed to be stood there half naked, bless his cotton socks! oh....no socks, my bad.

happy disfigured head...

shrew tomb, too cool!

mummified cat...

cool bird

(you can tell i really read all the little info tabs next to all the exhibits right? what will i do with all this worldly knowledge?! )

and as promised, a tattoo pic.....

the 2nd day was real slow...for everyone, loads of artists just ended up buggering off for half the day, leaving me with all the super fun walk in teeny tiny bits and bobs.....yeah....

oh, but i did meet a blog reader, who was patiently awaiting my return from my 127th cigarette break that day. it's always nice to meet people who read the blog.....so "thanks missy blog reader, u made my day".

i'm sorry, i'll post some proper tattoo pics real soon! i have 2 real nice pieces from the convention still to come, one piece from before i even left and MY NEW TATTOO...TOO!

toys n tats

So i was gonna post everything chronologically, and i still kinda am, but i'm merging the 2nd half of my cultural museum day and the 1st day of the convention. forgive me time lords, i know not what i do.

ok so After the singapore national museum we rocked on back to the Mint toy museum. We found this lil gem last year, and couldn't wait to go back. The collection constantly changes, and lucky for us the staff do not, so we got in for free..... twice!

So cute!
*exterminate!*

Teach 'em young!

so many toys........ (drool).........

This is the view from the bar downstairs....not too shabby!

this little guy kept us company, he's called frank...

OK, so let's cut to the convention, day 1 i already had stuff booked in, so i got straight to work.
We met Grel last year, and she's collecting sugar skull inspired tattoos.... We were gonna do the back of her calf, but furniture was difficult, tables were wobbly, and i didn't wanna make her stand for hours with her leg up on a chair, so we went with the thigh instead....

She sat like a champ, and went and got another piece right after this. crazy lady!

After the 1st day, we (us and Ze Germans....more on them later) went out street drinking across the river from Clarke Quay. Can't complain when u got a bag full of beer, good weather and a view like this....

it certainly beats this view..... across the river!

Muse-ummmmm

more pics from the museum.

i took lots of photos of photos by the way.......

this kid freaks me out....

polyga*me*  ...  "no me!"    ...  *no ME!*

Outta practice!

So i am back from Singapore...or as i am now referring to it .... "Singapoor"(it's a rich country but u sure do end up leaving the place poor! expensive bars and awesome bookshops = broke). I barely had any time online, i think i managed a total of 1 hour the whole week, so many apologies for the blog-less blog recently. Anyways, i have hundreds of pics to trawl through, but i figured i should at least post something,  so here ya go......

I always love the view on the bus from my gaff to the airport....

The roof of the HK airport.....

An awesome sculpture in the airport, it's a huge "dew drop" it makes for cool pics!

I love the architecture in Singapore, they've managed to keep a real nice mix of the old and new and the not so old but kinda looks old, and the not so new but revamped.....u get the picture!

The first day we had in Singapore we had no plans for, so i dragged Ross around the National Museum...

This was a weird multi screen video on a rough guide of Singapore through the years...
spot the odd one out.

This is an old prison door....

There were so many awesome photos....

I really liked this museum, coz even the stuff that wasn't antique or really a display item looked awesome....

There's loads more pics from the museum, but i got stuff to do, so i will try and catch up with everything, the museum, the convention, my new tattoo blah blah in the next few days.

In the mean time, here's a pic of some really cute chocolate milk (c'mon......monkeys and pirates!), and Ross outside a "London chippy"....in Singapore!
